Antony has hinted at being pleased with a new start at Real Betis after completing the move last week.

The £86million signing, sealed a loan move to La Liga after failing to live to expectations at Manchester United. Antony contributed to just 12 goals in 96 appearances for the club and has scored only once in the Premier League since April 2023.

He now hopes to reignite his career in Spain with Betis' sporting director Manu Fajardo describing his arrival as 'exciting.' Fajardo told Marca: "Antony’s arrival is exciting. From the sporting management and the coaching staff, we understood that we had to improve the second line of attack.

"Antony is already with us, but we must not individualise any player. For the team to achieve its objectives, both Antony and the rest of the players will have to take a step forward and demonstrate on a daily basis, from the maximum involvement and talent, to meet the objective one more year."

Antony added: "Very happy to be here, thanks very much for everything. I am very eager to take the shirt and help the team. I already played once with Vitor Roque with Brazil. He sent me a message on Instagram. I'm also lucky, as he'll send me a message if I need anything. So I think day by day, I'll meet the whole team and we'll give each other all the information."

Taking to Instagram on Monday night to share a new, 16-word message, Antony shared a picture of him in training as he eyes his debut on Sunday when Betis host Athletic Bilbao in La Liga. He wrote: "Your plans for my life are bigger than what I can imagine. Thank you my God."

The Brazilian has only made eight Premier League appearances for United this season, all as a substitute.
