Dow Rises 600 Points as Major Indexes Cap a Forgettable February
The stock market rallied in relief on Friday as the major indexes capped off a February to forget.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 600 points, or 1.4%. The S&P 500 rose 1.6%. The Nasdaq Composite rose 1.6%, closing out its worst February since 2020 on a high note.
The latest read on personal consumption expenditures price inflation cooled as expected, providing fertile ground for some dip buying in the wake of the latest stock market slide that’s been fueled by worries about the economy and President Donald Trump’s tariff plans.
