Ruben Amorim has a long list of transfer priorities at Manchester United this summer and a new goalkeeper may be one of them.

Andre Onana remains a mystifying player. One minute, he is involved in a comical mixup with Patrick Dorgu, which led to Ipswich taking the lead last week, and then he pulls off vital saves to keep United in the game against Fulham on Sunday.

Goalkeepers make mistakes, but Onana's unpredictability makes him a liability when you need calm heads. The Reds need a steady presence between the sticks, and it's becoming increasingly clear that the former Inter Milan shot-stopper will fail to provide that.

One keeper who has impressed in the Premier League this season is Leicester City's Mads Hermansen. The Danish goalkeeper has looked the part despite the Foxes' struggles under former Reds striker and interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy.

It is claimed in The Telegraph that Hermansen could be the key player to solve Leicester's potential PSR issues this summer as they aim to avoid a possible points deduction. Abdul Fatawu, who was seen as their most valuable and hence sellable asset, has suffered a season-ending knee injury, meaning Hermansen is likely to be the player they'll have to cash in on.

The East Midlands club are unlikely to lack interested parties with United reportedly among several teams keeping an eye on his situation. It’s claimed that Tony Coton, United’s chief goalkeeping scout, was present to watch Hermansen at Leicester’s 2-2 draw with Brighton on December 8 last year.

If Van Nistelrooy remains at the King Power Stadium, his relationship with the Reds could also help facilitate a move. Leicester's probable relegation will likely see Hermansen put up for sale.

Of course, the litany of problems at Old Trafford may see United prioritise other positions and stick with Onana for at least one more campaign. The Manchester Evening News understands that the Cameroonian is keen to stay in Manchester, and with money tight at M16, wing-backs, as well as a new striker, are more essential for Amorim next term.

But like with David de Gea and Erik ten Hag two seasons ago, it's likely that United's manager will be keen to bring in a goalkeeper he trusts. Onana remains extremely unconvincing under the former Sporting boss, and that spells danger for his long-term future at the club.
