Manchester United continue to be linked with a summer transfer swoop for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The Reds are expected to bolster their ranks this summer in an attempt to transform the club's fortunes under Ruben Amorim, with both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund struggling in front of goal this term.
The Portuguese head coach has endured a torrid time since his move to Old Trafford, unable to strengthen his side in the January transfer window. United have been linked with a number of strikers since Amorim's arrival, including Viktor Gyokeres at his former club Sporting.
Reports last week claimed United were in talks with Napoli regarding a move for on-loan forward Osimhen, who has impressed with Galatasaray following a summer transfer saga, but Fabrizio Romano says those reports are far from the truth. Napoli director Giovanni Manna is hoping for a swift resolution to Osimhen's future, with the Serie A club keen to sort out a move quickly this summer after failed moves to Chelsea and Al-Ahli.

"I wanted to complete our discussion, also mentioning the situation of Victor Osimhen" Romano told his " target="_blank" class="link"> YouTube channel. "What's next for Victor Osimhen?
"It's important to say that despite reports in the last 2-3 days - [saying] 'the deal is done with Man United, Osimhen has an agreement with Man United, everything is okay for Man United to trigger the clause to sign Victor Osimhen' - at the moment there’s still no confirmation on this.
"The interest in Victor Osimhen is there. He's a player they follow and like, one of many strikers they are looking at for the summer transfer window. But as of today, the beginning of March, Man United still don't know how much they can spend in terms of transfer fee and in terms of salary for a player like Osimhen who is not going to change his salary.
"€12million net (£9.9m) at Napoli is his current salary and Osimhen is not going to reduce it. So it's going to be important to see how much Manchester United can spend in terms of financial fair play, European competitions so there are several things to see, and what Osimhen wants to do.
"There is still important job to do before we can say Osimhen is going to Man United or any other club. He's focused on Galatasaray.
"Napoli will try to sell the player as soon as possible. This is the clear message of the club. The official message from Napoli is 'we want to sell Osimhen as soon as possible.'
"He's not going to return to the club. He's returning from Galatasaray loan, exploring new options. Man United can be interested, yes, but they are not in advanced talks or in concrete talks for Osimhen as of today.
"They have more names in the striker position and for sure, Osimhen will be one to watch but as of today it's not guaranteed he's going to be the new striker at Manchester United."
