Rob Elliot says his Crawley side must try to “manage” the atmosphere as Steven Schumacher takes charge of his first home game at Wanderers.

A good crowd is expected as the Whites aim to bounce back from their late defeat at Reading last weekend and get back into the play-off places.

Crawley currently find themselves in the relegation zone, although they have at least one game in hand on the sides around them.

Eliot’s side were denied a point against Wrexham last weekend after Elliot Lee nodded home the winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Despite their league position, only Birmingham have higher average possession figures than Crawley this season and Elliot expects a “good footballing game” at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

“It is really important to me that we don't let those levels drop,” he told Sussex World. “Going to Bolton is going to be a tough game anyway because of the size of the club and the players they have got, and obviously the new manager's first game at home is going to be a bit of an intense atmosphere so we are going to have to manage that.

“But ultimately it is just about us and us moving forward with how we want to play. They are a very good side, they have been up and around the top of the league all season.

“They have got a very experienced manager, a very good manager who likes to play good football, so I think it will be a really good footballing game.

“They have obviously got some players like Aaron Collins and Joel Randall, for example, who can really hurt you. We need to make sure that we are at it both with and without the ball.

“But again I think we are getting to the point now where yes, we will obviously respect every opponent and we want to make sure that we work during the week to nullify what we think we can.

“But we have got to really concentrate on what our strengths are, go out and perform the way we have done. They are the levels that I expect and that we have got to demand from each other.”
