GREENOCK JUNIORS youth pathway had a near-perfect weekend as they continued their promising starts to 2025.

It was three wins out of four for Greenock Juniors pathway teams last weekend and as is often the case there was no shortage of goals in the various matches.

The development team progressed to the next round of the Clyde Cup with a hard fought though deserved win against a far travelled Lochar United.

Things were not looking too promising for the Nock at half time, with the score at 0-0 and the team one man light after a red card.

As often happens, the 10 men rose to the occasion. Skipper Christopher Lepick led by example, opening the scoring with a header shortly after the restart.

Michael McCauley and Luke McKenzie then added to the tally in the last 10 minutes to add a touch of gloss to the scoreline. Man of the match was Lepick.

Tonight (Friday), the squad are away to Clydebank in an intriguing fixture; both teams have significant fixture backlogs and are capable of eventually hitting the top spot in West of Scotland Football League Conference D if they win their games in hand.

The 2007s, after their highly creditable run to the last 16 of the Scottish Cup, took out any lasting frustrations on BSC Glasgow at Notre Dame in a league match.

In a resounding 6-1 victory the team played with intensity and intelligent football. Scorers for Greenock were Liam Connolly (2), Harvey Woods (2), Jay Dooley and Aiden Blair. Man of the match was Liam Connolly.

The boys are way to Johnstone Burgh on Saturday and will be aiming to continue their fine league form which currently has them 2 points adrift of leaders Carolside with 4 games in hand.

The 2008s suffered their second loss on the bounce, going down 6-1 away to Park Sports in the League Cup.

While disappointing to lose, it has been useful for the group to play against stronger teams in higher divisions, rather than running up heavy score lines in their own league. Ben McSween scored for the Nock, with Ruaridh Davidson being named man of the match.

The team head to Pollok on Saturday to resume their league campaign and hopefully chalk up a confidence restoring victory.

The 2009 squad continued their fine run of form with a 6-1 win in the league cup against rivals Port Juniors.

Scorers were Chris Hyndman (2), Tyler Boyland (2), Zak Paul and Reece Gault. Man of the Match was Tyler Boyland.

The group are playing thoughtful, skillful football, and while winning is important, so is development and in that regard the boys are on a very productive learning curve.

That will be tested this weekend when the team make the short hop to Paisley to play top of the table Gleniffer Thistle in the league.
