Cardiff City have kicked transfer deadline day off in positive fashion with the announcement of new signing Will Alves on loan from Leicester City.
The 19-year-old, who trained with his new team-mates this morning, will add competition in the No.10 role as well as the wide areas, with many Foxes fans believing he is arguably the brightest talent in their academy stable at the moment. He has become the Bluebirds' third signing of the window after Sivert Mannsverk and Yousef Salech.
But Cardiff still ideally want at least one more before the deadline at 11pm tonight. The club are working to bring in another player, but are also understood to be pleased with their lot if that doesn't get over the line, with their options having been bolstered in midfield and at the top end of the pitch in this winter window.

The 19-year-old, who has had a prolific half-season in front of goal for the Bluebirds under-21s, looked set to join Notts County, however the Gas came in late last night with another attempt to steer him to Bristol and now look likely to seal his signature. It is understood the promise of more game-time - with Rovers keen to give the youngster ample opportunity despite being in a higher division than County - coupled with Cardiff's desire to see him test himself at the highest level possible have been factors in the decision.
Meanwhile, Tanatswa Nyakuhwa to Newport County now looks unlikely. Newport had shown interest in taking the 19-year-old Bluebirds winger to Rodney Parade on loan.

It came after they themselves missed out on City forward Reindorf. However, the latest we hear this morning now is that it is unlikely before tonight's deadline.
It is hoped that Jamilu Collins can find a new home before tonight's 11pm deadline, too, with the Nigeria international understood to not be in Omer Riza's plans moving forward. He has had interest from Greece and elsewhere abroad without much really materialising at time of writing.
