NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Player Pickups Feb. 28 - Can Byfield Stay King? - chof 360 news

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of chof360 leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.

Quinton Byfield, C/LW/RW, LA at DAL (45% rostered)

More teasing or the start of something? Byfield’s potential is intriguing, and he notched four assists against the Knights and added another against the Canucks in 22:56 of ice time. Goals may be hard to come by – the Stars were lit up for six goals against the Jackets, but that Jackets offense is really good – but Byfield’s increased usage bodes well for his fantasy value. I can see this being a low-scoring game, but if Byfield’s getting this many minutes, he’s going to get plenty of opportunities to score.

Will Cuylle, LW/RW, NYR vs. TOR (29% rostered)

If you’re looking for hits, you can’t go wrong with Cuylle. He’s registered at least four hits in eight of his past nine games dating back to the end of January, and he’s got some modest offensive upside for added value. He’s scored two goals in his past four games.

Jonathan Drouin, LW/RW, COL vs. MIN (24% rostered)

This is the second game in two nights for the Wild, who were shellacked by Utah on Thursday. The Wild managed just 17 shots and now faces an even tougher possession team with an even more explosive offense in the Avs. Drouin is a sleepy fantasy player until he starts to score points, which he’s done in two of his past three games. He plays a ton of minutes but doesn’t offer much else, and there’s been plenty of zeros in his games this season. However, on a light night, it’s hard to pass up on such a good matchup where a blowout win is possible.

Warren Foegele, LW/RW, LA at DAL (12% rostered)

Foegele goes through stretches where he scores in bunches, and that’s the case here with four goals and three assists in his past six games. His ice time has crept upwards recently especially with Drew Doughty out and the Kings opting to dress seven defensemen, leaving more time to go around for the forwards.

K’Andre Miller, D, NYR vs. TOR (7% rostered)

There are a lot of moving parts to the Rangers roster right now with J.T. Miller, Chris Kreider and Miller all listed as day-to-day, while Adam Fox has been placed on IR and could miss significant time. That’s put their power play units in flux with Peter Laviolette opting for five forwards at one point.

However, if Miller dresses, expect him to see time on the power play. Zac Jones was called up to fill a spot but it’s unlikely he sees any time with the man advantage since he’s played very sheltered roles under Laviolette, who clearly doesn’t trust him that much. Miller’s fantasy value is dampened if he doesn’t get PP1, but if the five-forward unit doesn’t work out, Miller might get some looks.
