A 'small number' of arrests were made at Celtic's clash against Aston Villa.

The action-packed Champions League match took place at Villa Park, Aston Villa's home ground, in Birmingham on Wednesday, January 29.

Following it, West Midlands Police revealed there were 'minor incidents of disorder' in both the home and away sections of the stadium.

The force also confirmed a 'small number of arrests' were made for a 'variety of offences' at the event.

However, they said the 'vast majority' of footy fans were 'well-behaved' and enjoyed the game.

The match saw Glasgow's Celtic lose 4 - 2 to the Premier League side.

Aston Villa went up 2 - 0 in the first five minutes of the match thanks to goals from Morgan Rogers.

The Hoops then made a comeback with two quick goals from Adam Idah in the 36th and 38th minutes.

However, the English side managed to net another two goals in the game's second half - making the final score 4 - 2 to Villa.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "There were minor incidents of disorder in both the home and away sections of the stadium.

"A small number of arrests have been made for a variety of offences but the vast majority of fans were well behaved and enjoyed the game."
