Ian Holloway said that he got a positive reaction from Swindon Town owner Clem Morfuni after he sent him to visit another club for inspiration.

Morfuni went back to Australia on Sunday having spent the previous two weeks in England as one of his trips back to the country to oversee the running of Swindon.

In January, Holloway said that he intended to take his chairman to visit other successful football clubs to help him see what they had done to accomplish that for inspiration.

The 61-year-old has previously spoken of his desire to help improve the running of the club and get them set up to succeed.

He said last month: “Hopefully we will then be in a better position to reassess who we have got in the summer, what we need to do, and get ahead of a window.

“That is what good clubs do, you get ahead of the window.

“You actually know where you are and who you are going to take by the end of it all and you have it lined up.”

Ahead of Morfuni returning to his native Australia, Holloway revealed that he had sent him to visit another club and he had been very pleased with his chairman’s response.

He said: “It is not just Brighton and Brentford, it is Notts County as well, they have done a fantastic job of building and doing it their way.

“All of these things are being looked at behind the scenes and the way that I would like us to move forward is being suggested and it is being received very well.

“I didn’t do it [visit another club] but the chairman has.

“[What was his response like to that?] I have never seen a smile like it, he had a great smile on his face and that must mean it was good news.

“What my job is is to try and help him with the investment that he has made and if that investment has gone down then it was a bad investment.

“He is not used to failing, that is one thing I do know.

“It has been an education for me and I am loving every minute of it, looking at him and speaking with him and working with the people I have got here.

“Long may it continue, but that is down to what we are able to do between now and the end of the season.”
