The first stage of the Champions League reaches its final round on Wednesday evening.

Liverpool are already guaranteed a spot in the top eight and can afford to rotate when they head to PSV. Barcelona could still catch them in first place, however, but they have a tricky game against Atalanta.

Arsenal are also pretty much guaranteed a spot in the last 16 and will fancy their chances away at Girona.

Aston Villa and Celtic will enter the play-off round as things stand but any victor in their clash could yet gatecrash the top eight if other results go their way.

Manchester City, however, are fighting for their lives and must beat Club Brugge to ensure they reach the play-offs.

The teams who finish in the top eight in the league will automatically qualify for the round of 16. Those who finish between 9th and 24th will compete in a two-legged knockout play-off to earn the right to progress, while those who finish lower will be eliminated from European competition entirely.
