Moving nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table on Saturday, Arsenal kept up its side of the bargain the following day by hammering Manchester City. By the time both teams play in the league on the same weekend again, they will have played the same number of games.
Liverpool still has a match in hand for now but the Merseyside derby against Everton is coming up in just over a week. That is the Reds' next Premier League fixture because of two domestic cup ties coming in between and will draw them level with Arsenal on 24 games played before the Gunners play next.
If Liverpool can win what is likely to be the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, the Reds would go nine clear with 14 matches each left to play. While that will be difficult, it would be hard to overlook Arne Slot's men from that position — even harder than it already is.

Gary Neville has been speaking about Liverpool on his " target="_blank" class="link"> Sky Sports podcast. And the former Manchester United full-back has admitted that the Reds "should" go on to win the title, even though he is still sticking with his Arsenal prediction from the start of the season.
"Liverpool are in an incredible position in the form table and you have to say they’re massive favorites," he said. "They should go on to win it… they’re doing really well and they look like they’ve got all the sort of weapons and tools that you need to win a league."
Liverpool.com says: From this position, Liverpool needs to get over the line. Virgil van Dijk spoke at the weekend about taking it game by game and that is undoubtedly the way to go. With a good lead at this point and with lots of tricky matches out of the way, though, Liverpool is in pole position. Arsenal will drop more points too.
