A Dragons' Den star has been spotted at a Newcastle United women's match.

Entrepreneur Sara Davies, from Coundon, attended the match at Kingston Park where she watched Newcastle United Women secure a 3-2 victory against Portsmouth.

Despite admitting she is not the "world's biggest football fan," Ms Davies, who made her name in the crafts industry before joining the BBC show as an investor in 2019, was full of praise for the team.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant said on Instagram: "You’ll never guess where I’ve spent the afternoon... none other than wrapped up at the side of the pitch at Kingston Park watching Newcastle United Women.

"But when Becky Langley invited me to come along to watch Newcastle United Women play today, I was desperate to come to support her and the team.

"And wow, what a match to witness.

"The energy on that pitch was incredible, and it was amazing to see the fight and determination from every single player."

Ms Davies described the match as an eye-opener, stating: "It’s made me realise this is the football for me, I bloody loved every second of those 90 minutes."

She praised the leadership of team manager Becky Langley and encouraged football fans to support the team.

"Becky’s leadership is something truly special.

"As a manager, she’s created such a strong, confident, and cohesive team, and her vision for Newcastle United Women is so inspiring."

Captain of the side, Amber Keegan Stobbs responded to the post and said: "So good to see you there today!"

Supporters of the team were quick to respond to Ms Davies's social media post.

Sophia Martin said: "I bumped into you in the club shop and did a double take! We politely smiled at each other. Didn't want to bother you as you were with kids.

"Great to see you there!"

Another commenter, Louise, said: "The women's football is such a family-friendly place.

"Love going to Kingston Park with my daughters."
