After almost five weeks of rumours and speculation, the mid-season transfer window will slam shut at 11pm this evening.

Manchester United head into the final day of the window having made two signings so far, with Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven arriving at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford completed his move to Aston Villa late last night as he joined the Midlands club on loan until the end of the season.

As the final day of the January transfer window in 2023 highlighted with United's last-minute swoop for Marcel Sabitzer, anything can happen on deadline day, meaning you must be prepared to expect the unexpected. With the clock ticking, here is a flavour of what an ideal finish to the window would look like at Old Trafford:

Incomings:

Tel checks in

United announced the signing of Dorgu on Sunday morning and it's hoped he won't be the last player through the door. With United having to remain mindful of the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules [PSR], any hopes they have of strengthening their attack today are likely to rest on a loan deal coming to fruition. The winter market is incredibly difficult to navigate and fees are often inflated.

It means any ambitions United have of adding a world-class No.9 to their ranks are almost certainly going to have to wait until the summer. However, that does not mean they may be not be able to come up with a stop-gap option to see them through until the end of the season.

Bayern Munich ace Mathys Tel has been linked with a cluster of clubs over the last few days and reportedly turned down a move to Tottenham Hotspur on Friday after the London club agreed a big-money fee with Bayern. If United are to land the 19-year-old, he will almost certainly arrive on loan, but with just 16 goals in 83 games for Bayern it would represent a gamble.

Outgoings:

Casemiro and Malacia move on

Casemiro is another player that has struggled for game-time recently. He has played just once for United since the start of 2025, storing just 18 minutes under his belt.

With his contract not up until June 2026, United still have time to bank a fee for the Brazil international. However, the longer he goes without adequate game-time, the quicker his valuation will fall.

United have spoken to several agents in attempt to sell him before the deadline. They are keen to find a buyer for him after a significant reduction in minutes under Amorim in recent weeks.

After Dorgu's arrival was confirmed, Tyrell Malacia could depart on loan - and it would make sense. The Dutchman is not a natural fit for Amorim's wing-back system, he is still working his way back to full fitness after so long on the sidelines and Dorgu's arrival will see his game-time reduced.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News a fortnight ago, United are open to letting Malacia go. A loan move would offer him the chance to play regularly, potentially increase his value ahead of the summer and save United some funds on wages.

Youngsters get loan opportunities

United have already sent a number of youngsters out on loan in this window and you would be brave to bet against at least one more deal involving one of them going through. Harry Amass, after a sparkling pre-season campaign, has not earned a single minute of first-team football this season.

The left-back impressed on the tour of the United States and looked a shoo-in for a start when Barnsley visited Old Trafford in the League Cup in September. Instead, midfielder Toby Collyer started at left-back.

Amass is now at a point in his career where he may benefit from some first-team experience for a few months elsewhere. Sam Mather is another youngster who could benefit from a temporary loan.

However, as reported by the Manchester Evening News earlier in the window, his fitness is likely to dictate United's thinking on his immediate future.
