Aston Villa loan star Lewis Dobbin’s season is feared to be over after the promising young attacker limped off the field ‘distressed’ after just 25 minutes of Norwich City’s 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers.
The 22-year-old, who only joined the Championship Canaries in early January, has impressed during 11 appearances to date, during which he has scored two goals. But City boss Johannes Hoff Thorup is ‘not optimistic’ on Dobbin’s calf injury, admitting the Villa loanee’s spell could be over for the season after he was withdrawn at Ewood Park.
The Pink Un reports that Dobbin looked distressed as he was consoled by players on the pitch, after pulling up in a burst through central midfield just past the half-hour mark of Saturday’s match. There was also an embrace from his Danish head coach as he was helped down the tunnel, supported by two members of City’s staff.

Thorup must now await scan results on the player, who had been withdrawn as a precaution at half-time of the previous home win over Stoke following his second goal at Carrow Road.
“He felt it straight away when he was running in that situation. And of course, obviously, when a player feels like that and he feels the pain straight away like that, then it’s never a good sign,” said Thorup.
“So we have to wait and see we assess him (Sunday) and probably take him for a scan. But yes, I’m not that optimistic. "
Asked if he fears his season is over, he said: "You never know. I will not be too either pessimistic or optimistic around this. We have to wait and see. But of course, it’s obviously not too good when you have to take one of your strikers off after 25 minutes or something.”
