Jos Buttler will step down as England’s white-ball captain after the Champions Trophy.

England have already been knocked out of the tournament, after defeats to Australia and Afghanistan, and Saturday’s match against South Africa will be the final time Buttler leads the side.

“Just to let you all know, I’m going to stand down as England captain,” Buttler said at a press conference on Friday.

“It’s the right decision for me, it’s the right decision for the team. Hopefully somebody else can come in and work closely alongside Baz [Brendon McCullum] to take the team back to where it needs to be.”
