Kidderminster Harriers 2 King's Lynn Town 0

Adam Lakeland admitted his team are struggling to get back into games after King’s Lynn Town’s play-off ambitions took another hit.

Lynn are seventh in the National league North table – the final play-off spot – but most of their rivals have games in hand and current form is hardly impressive, with just three points from a possible 12.

It took just 12 minutes for them to go behind at Kidderminster and they rarely threatened. When they did, at the beginning of the second half, their mini bubble of hope was burst by a second home goal, and it was effectively game over.

“That was a really tough evening for us,” admitted Lakeland. “We were well beaten and if we’re being honest we should have been out of sight, really, at half-time.

“We made a couple of changes at half-time, just to try and offer us something top end of the pitch. We struggled to get up the pitch, we didn't play anywhere near enough of it in their half in the first half again. Jonny (Margetts) was completely isolated.

“I felt we started the second half better, we played in their half, we won a few set-plays, put a couple of crosses in. Their keeper made a save off a volley from Sam (Walker) and then within a minute or so, the ball’s in the back of the net again. And that’s just where we're at, at this moment in time, we're conceding some really poor goals, we're struggling a little bit to stay in games when we're second best.

“And ultimately, the second goal it was deserved by them, to be honest. But when you are still in it at 1-0, that second goal made life so much more difficult.

“But the lads kept on going, their keeper’s made two or three good saves, but so has Jonah (Paul Jones).

“Yes, the best team won tonight. We have just got to dust ourselves down and we can get ready to go again at the weekend.”
