EMMANUEL Latte Lath said it was an "easy decision" to leave Middlesbrough for Atlanta United in January, with the striker making a perfect start for his new club with a double on his debut.

Latte Lath scored twice as Atlanta kicked off their MLS campaign with a 3-2 win over Montreal United.

Days earlier, the striker - who left Boro for Atlanta in a £22.5m deal last month - was officially introduced to the media and told of his desire to win silverware in the United States.

But he also made an intriguing comment about Boro, saying: “Now, you could ask me, I could win with Middlesbrough, yes, but it was a different thing. There are many things that happen there and I will just leave that there.

He added: "Atlanta started to talk to me, they showed me the project and for me it was really easy to come here. I’m 26-year-old but I want to win something.

"I just think of my future. I came here because I want to try and win something with Atlanta and I like the project they told me about.”

Atlanta United broke the MLS record to sign Latte Lath in January and the club's chief executive, Garth Lagerwey, said: “We believe that signing him reflects our global ambition to become one of the bigger clubs in the world."

Latte Lath says he's settled immediately in his surroundings.

"In Europe, you don’t find many facilities like this one. The training ground is really, really big. I can feel at home," he said.

"With the stadium, my face was like, wow. It's big, massive. I’ve never seen anything like it. In Europe, I played in big stadiums, but this one is really amazing.

"I know this transfer market was long, but finally I’m here and we’ll really, really, really enjoy it. I’ll score a lot of goals, and we’ll finish every day with a smile."
