Accrington Stanley will host a food bank collection at the Wham Stadium before their match against Bradford City next month.

The initiative, planned for Saturday, March 29, is in aid of local charity Maundy Relief.

Fans can donate items between 12pm and 3pm on the day, with further opportunities to donate in the weeks leading up to the match.

For those unable to donate at the stadium, there are alternative drop-off points.

The Official Accrington Stanley Supporters Trust (OASST) shop in the Arndale and Maundy Relief on Abbey Street will accept donations in the week before the game.

Accrington Stanley chief executive, Warren Eastham, said: "This is a fantastic community initiative and one which we are passionate about supporting as a club.

"Any donations that both our supporters and the Bradford fans can make, will be greatly appreciated."

Maundy Relief chief executive, Lucy Hardwick, said: "On behalf of everyone at Maundy Relief I would like to thank Accrington Stanley for their wonderful support.

"They have been running the food bank collection for many years now and the impact it has cannot be underestimated."

The most sought-after goods include UHT milk, coffee, biscuits, tinned meat/fish, soups, tinned beans and vegetables, pasta, rice, and pasta sauces.

Items collected on the day will be transported to Maundy Relief and included in food parcels for local people in need.
