Former Carlisle United defender Seán Grehan has returned to his native Ireland in his latest move.

The 21-year-old has joined his former club Bohemians on loan from Premier League club Crystal Palace.

His first outing came as a substitute in Bohs' 1-0 defeat at Derry City in the SSE Airtricity League of Ireland Premier Division.

Dubliner Grehan was a January loan signing at Carlisle under Paul Simpson last season but the Palace prospect made just three substitute appearances.

Since then he has been in Palace's Under-21 side before his latest move to link up with Alan Reynolds' Bohemians at Dalymount Park, where Grehan spent several years before his move to Palace in 2022.

“We’re delighted to bring Seán back to the club," Reynolds told the club website.

"He knows the club, he knows a lot of the players and staff here already, and he has an affinity with Bohs from his time coming through the ranks here and with St Kevin’s.

“But most importantly he is a very talented player. He’s big, he’s strong and he is a really commanding centre-back.

“I worked with him with the Ireland Under-21s so I know his attributes and the qualities, so I am really looking forward to working with him again.”

Another former Carlisle player is also on the move with Sam Fishburn making his latest non-league switch.

The former United youth striker has linked up with Northern Premier League East Division club Ashington on a month's loan from National League North club Scunthorpe United.

Fishburn, 21, has been with the Iron since last summer after leaving Fleetwood Town. His move to Ashington comes after a previous loan spell with Spennymoor Town this season.

The frontman was a product of Carlisle's youth side and Fishburn went on to make 15 first-team appearances for the Blues.
