GREENOCK WANDERERS' bid for survival continues this weekend as they look to right a few wrongs from earlier in the season, writes John Dyer.

Dunfermline are the visitors at Fort Matilda on Saturday as they prepare to play the their second tie against the Wanderers this season.

Earlier on this season the Greenock side lost out in a 50-0 defeat in Fife on the opening day of the campaign.

That match was a very poor start to Wanderers' season, as they were totally outplayed by a bigger and faster side on the day.

The visitors are presently sitting third in National Division Four and dished out a 64-10 defeat to North Berwick last weekend.

Wanderers will be in better shape for Saturday's clash - rescheduled after falling victim to the big freeze that struck much of the country on November 23 - after their second half performance at Linlithgow.

The Fort Matilda men were left with a mountain to climb after being blown away by their West Lothian opponents, who reached the interval 30-3 in front - but a stirring fightback saw them reduce the gap to just one point, before a yellow card to scrum half Garath Knox put a spoke in the Wanderers' wheels.

Linlithgow eventually eased to a 40-29 win, but second-half tries from Rory Cameron, Murray McDonald (twice) and Dylan Campbell did at least yield a try bonus point, which may yet come in handy at the end of the season.

The forwards will likely be unchanged for tomorrow's game, and the back line will be enhanced with Tyley, McDougal and a few others who are available for selection after injury.

Kick-off at Fort Matilda is at 2pm, with the final whistle coming in plenty of time for the TV coverage of England v Scotland in the Six Nations.

Meanwhile, the under 18s will travel to face Annan.

On Sunday, the micros have their usual training session at Clydeview, starting at 11am, while the Minis go up against Helensburgh and Ardrossan at Fort Matilda, starting at 11am.

The under-13 boys have a tough test away to Marr (KO 2pm), while the U14 boys are at home to West of Scotland, also with a 2pm start.

The under-15s complete the picture for the boys' squad with a cup tie against GHK, kicking off at 2pm at Fort Matilda.

In the girls section, the under 12 girls will be part of the guard of honour at Scotstoun when Glasgow Warriors take on Ospreys at 1pm, whilst the under 16s face off against Annan.

In the seniors, the women's second team make the journey to play Lismore in the National Plate, kicking off at 2pm.

Greenock Wanderers are grateful to club sponsor MMSearch and Ladies section sponsors Straps of Gourock and Brow House Cosmetics.
