CANICE Carroll has seen the red card shown to him seconds into his Oxford City return rescinded.
The 26-year-old defender was sent off seconds into his Hoops return during the opening stages of the 2-1 defeat at King’s Lynn Town.
Carroll, who played a key role in promotion to the Vanarama National League in 2023, rejoined the club on Monday and went straight into the starting line-up at the Linnets the following day.

However, his second debut got off to a nightmare start when he was shown a straight red card virtually from kick-off.
A long ball over the top wasn’t dealt with, and Carroll was deemed to have denied a goalscoring opportunity when he fouled Jonny Margetts, who had broken through.

The red card though has been rescinded, and the Hoops said in a statement: “Oxford City Football Club can confirm that the red card shown to Canice Carroll during Tuesday’s Vanarama National League North game against King’s Lynn Town has been overturned, following a successful appeal by the club.
“Carroll was shown a straight red card for denial of a goalscoring opportunity after just 15 seconds on Tuesday evening.
“However, following a successful appeal, Carroll is once again available for selection after an independent regulatory commission upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal.”
