In the nine years that Jasmine Roth has been on HGTV, she's seen a lot of home renovations gone wrong. The name of her show, Help! I Wrecked My House, says it all: Jasmine flies in to save homeowners from sagging ceilings, leaking pipes and partially demolished walls. Then she redesigns their spaces so they're functional and beautiful.
The designer and builder just launched a new lighting collection with Hunter, plus she's filming her show's fifth season. But these days, Jasmine has just one VIC (very important client) on her mind: her own family. Jasmine, her husband Brett, and their young daughters, Hazel and Darla, recently moved from California to Utah, and Jasmine is creating their dream home in Park City.
Though she still has a lot of work to do — "I haven't even started Darla's nursery yet, and she's 5 months old!" Jasmine admits — she has stocked the house with fuzzy blankets, luxurious-smelling soaps and other cozy finds. "It's especially important in a place like this, where we get a crazy amount of snow," she says. One of the first things Jasmine did when she moved into her new house? Set up a gallery wall of family photos outside her bedroom. "I look at it every single day," she says. To keep things cohesive, she had the pictures printed in black and white and displayed them in these minimalist brass frames. "There's something so calm and aesthetic about black-and-white photos," she says.
The frames come in seven sizes, so you can mix and match depending on your space. Not into metallics? They're also available in black and white.
"I used to have a lot more plants, but I've steered away from that because it feels a bit silly in Utah," Jasmine says. Her secret to bringing the outdoors in: Threshold's impressively realistic faux stems, which she'll group in a vase.
They come in several types of foliage, including pampas grass, thistle and apple blossom. Some even have colorful little blooms, so you can get a head start on spring.
Though she's not much of a candle person (she makes one exception for her own brand's Sea Mist & Palm Wood candle), Jasmine appreciates a light, woodsy scent. She says Method's vetiver and amber soap smells great, plus she loves the reusable black aluminum bottle.
"Because we just moved, I don't have pretty soap dispensers for the bathroom yet, but this does the trick," she says. "It's the nicest off-the-shelf bottle I've seen."
Lately, Jasmine's been into materials that encourage snuggling, like faux shearling. "It didn't make sense when we lived at the beach, but because we're in the mountains now, I have a lot of it going on," she says. "It's very comfy, cozy, fuzzy."
She says Pottery Barn makes "the absolute best blankets." This plush throw is techincally a baby blanket, but "I love them even for adults," she adds. "They wear really well, and they make a cute gift too."
"I just bought these cord keepers for my bedroom," Jasmine says. "You know how when your phone is plugged in behind your nightstand, the cord always falls when you pull it out or it gets all looped up and becomes hard to grab? This totally solves that problem."
You can use either the included adhesive or screws to attach the anchors to your wall or a piece of furniture. Then just slide in your cord and it'll stay put until you need it.
What's more comforting than a bowl of oatmeal? A bowl of oatmeal that's automatically made for you and stays piping hot all morning. This gadget is programmable just like a coffee maker, and it has made Roth family breakfasts much easier, Jasmine says.
"It's like the Keurig of rice cookers. You don't have to measure the water; you just fill the tank, and it uses the right amount for whatever you're cooking. It's so cool," she adds. "The matte black finish is also beautiful, so I don't mind leaving it out on my counter."
Clutter can really put a damper on a home's cozy, welcoming vibe, so Jasmine organizes as she unpacks. She uses these stackable drawer dividers for tidying up kitchen utensils, towels, bedding, even clothes.
"These have been a total game-changer for me, especially in the kitchen. All my spatulas — now when I throw them in a drawer, I can actually see them! The dividers make a spot for anything," she says.
It's been tough for Jasmine, a California gal, to get used to Utah winters. This luxe heated bench, which she put on her patio, helps. "Sitting on it feels almost like you're in a hot tub!" she says.
Made from cast stone, the seat takes about 20 minutes to warm up and can reach temperatures from 80° to 120°F.
Stripes and ruffles give this pillow a sweet, vintage-inspired look that Jasmine's dreaming about for her daughter's nursery. "I love the ivory and butter yellow color scheme," she says. It also comes in a few other colors, including a rose/indigo stripe that looks very sophisticated.
