Riza: Two or three players' contracts are sorted

Cardiff City are expected to announce up to three new contract signings in the coming days.

The Bluebirds have 12 players whose deals expire at the end of the current campaign, with uncertainty surrounding the club's situation in the league and the delay over appointing Omer Riza as manager likely factors in the delays.

Callum Robinson, Callum O'Dowda, Dimitrios Goutas, Anwar El Ghazi, Yakou Miete, Isaak Davies, Kion Etete, Joe Ralls, Aaron Ramsey, Jamilu Collins, Andy Rinomhota and Jak Alnwick currently have only five months left.

But, dropping the positive news ahead of the club's tough trip to Leeds this weekend, Riza said of players' contracts: "Two or three players are done.

"You'll find out about them in the next couple of days." Sign up to our daily Cardiff City newsletter here.

King: Stevenage loan has been 'up and down'

Eli King has admitted that his loan to Stevenage so far has been a mixed bag, but believes that the win over Wrexham in midweek was the best of his career.

The Cardiff midfielder, 22, is on loan at the League One club, but has had to spend some time out of the team owing to both injury and selection.

And speaking after the 3-2 win in Wrexham, King said of his loan spell so far: "It's been up and down, like any loan.

"I have had an injury the last month or so, but any time you can come in and play games like that, you can only feel appreciative. I just want more games and more games like that, hopefully."

King has enjoyed largely positive loan spells to date, at Crewe, Morecambe and Ross County, however he has struggled the most at Stevenage, featuring just 13 times in the league.

But he will hope the game against Wrexham, in which he played 81 minutes — his longest outing since October — and garnered praise for, will be the start of a positive back end of the season for him.

"It's probably one of the most fun games I've played in my whole career. It's such a good result and when you put the performance in to deserve that result, it's even better," he said of the display against Wrexham on Tuesday.

"It's one of the best first halves I've ever played in, on the ball and off it, doing the dirty work and getting the ball down to play well. It just gives you the platform for time and space, which is a recipe for success."

Turnbull ahead of schedule

David Turnbull looks like he will return ahead of schedule, with Riza hopeful he can be back in action at the end of next month.

At one stage, the midfielder looked as though he had sustained a season-ending injury, going under the knife for a hamstring issue he sustained away to Coventry at the end of November.

Riza was then heartened that the prognosis got better, meaning his return-to-play timeframe was pencilled in for March or April. Now, though, it looks to be just a month or so away - with more positive news on the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Isaak Davies, too.

"Ollie Tanner potentially won't be involved," said Riza, who also confirmed Callum O'Dowda will return this weekend, ahead of the Leeds clash. "Ramsey is training now but still has a bit of work to do.

"Turnbull, hopefully end of February - Isaak Davies in 10 days to two weeks. Aaron is training now it's just about getting numbers up in training and in games, whether he plays for the under-21s.

"We will be fully strong and with a couple of additions now before the end of the window and I think the squad will be ready to have a good go before the end of the season."
