Wagner Group sends EU Parliament a message with ‘bloodied’ hammer | World

The leader of a Kremlin-sponsored private military group is sending a “blood-stained” sledgehammer to the European Parliament as he prepares to condemn the role of mercenaries in Ukraine.

The instrument, packaged in a violin case, is an inaccurate reference to the alleged recent execution with a sledgehammer of a Wagner Group fighter who attempted to defect to Ukrainian forces.

Run by Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin, Concorde said in a statement that “the issue of information to be sent to the European Parliament” had been referred to a representative of Kiber Front Z, a group of Russian nationalist bloggers.

Video footage later emerged of Prigozhin’s lawyer placing the violin case on a table and opening it to show an engraved sledgehammer.
