Thomas Tuchel breaks silence on Manchester United’s transfer interest in Christian Pulisic

Thomas Tuchel has explained that Chelsea do not have enough players to allow Christian Pulisic to leave the club.

Less than two weeks remain in the summer transfer window and Manchester United have not strengthened their attacking options. Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Martial remain the only recognized strikers in Erik ten Hag’s selection.

United are poised to take over midfielder Casemiro from Real Madrid, but their search for attacking reinforcements continues. United have been linked with several attacking players this summer and right winger Pulisic has been on the club’s radar.

Pulisic is said to be frustrated with his lack of playing time and the player has been linked with a loaned transfer to Old Trafford. Tuchel was asked on Friday about the mounting speculation surrounding Pulisic and outlined Chelsea’s stance on his future.

Tuchel explained that Chelsea have a busy schedule this season, making leaving the club unlikely.

“Yeah, I know there’s a lot of talk,” Tuchel said when asked about Pulisic. “We will not comment on our players and we will not encourage our players to go out at this time. We have had two training sessions with 18 players.

“In a schedule where we play once a week, this is not a problem. If I look at the schedule that comes, with Southampton and two Champions League games during the week, it’s coming, it’s on the doorstep and we have a lot of players needed.

“We need a lot of quality players to be competitive, so at the moment we have what we have.”
