The Kansas City Chiefs are going to want to forget the first half of Super Bowl LIX.

After entering the Superdome on the verge of a three-peat, the Philadelphia Eagles dominated the defending champs in every phase of the game to take a 24-0 lead into halftime. For every great Eagles play, there was also a Kansas City miscue.

The final error of the first half came on the Chiefs' final offensive play of the first half. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes found wide receive DeAndre Hopkins on 3rd-and-11 for what should have been a first down, but an inexplicable drop by the former All-Pro forced Kansas City to punt.

Longtime Chiefs star Chris Jones summed things up best with his reaction to Hopkins' drop. He literally fell to his knees in despair.

That was the first half for the Chiefs.

That drive ended with Kansas City punting for the fifth time of the game, and the only other Chiefs drive ended with a pick 6 by Eagles rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean. The Eagles, meanwhile, were enjoying themselves quite a bit.

The second half didn't start much better for Jones. He sustained an apparent knee injury on an Eagles field goal drive and had to be checked out on the sideline.
