Miami's Cam Ward is still the favorite to be chosen first in the 2025 NFL Draft.
But according to comments that Penn State's Abdul Carter made after Super Bowl LIX, he doesn't think that should be the case.
And according to the odds and to expert insight from Rob Rang, Carter could hear his name called first.
Let's take a look at the odds to be the first pick in the 2025 draft at FanDuel Sportsbook as of Feb. 25.

2025 NFL DRAFT NO. 1 PICK ODDS:
Cam Ward, Miami: -130 (bet $10 to win $17.69 total)
Abdul Carter, Penn State: +150 (bet $10 to win $25 total)
Travis Hunter, Colorado: +600 (bet $10 to win $70 total)
Shedeur Sanders, Colorado: +800 (bet $10 to win $90 total)
Hurricanes' quarterback Cam Ward moved to -130 from -140 over the last week and from +750 since the end of November.
However, second on the board — and quickly closing in — is Penn State's Abdul Carter.
Carter moved to +150 from +220 over the last week.
He also made waves on social media after the Eagles defeated the Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX.
In the big game, Philly forced Patrick Mahomes into two interceptions — including a pick-six — and also forced two fumbles by the Chiefs, one of which the Eagles recovered.
The Eagles also held K.C. to zero points in the first half, and the Chiefs didn't get on the board until there were just six seconds left in the third quarter. All of their points were scored in garbage time, after Philadelphia led 34-0.
The Eagles sacked Mahomes six times on the day.
To Carter's point, defense certainly had something to do with this championship.
This past season, Carter was a unanimous All-American and was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.
And for bettors deciding where to put their money in this market, here's some context that could be helpful. FOX Sports NFL Draft analyst Rob Rang has Carter going first to the Titans in his most recent mock draft.
"It was notably Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker … who recently shared the opinion that the Titans would not pass up a ‘generational talent’ to force a quarterback at No. 1.
"Carter is one of a handful of true blue-chip prospects in this class, offering an exceptional upside at a premium position. Carter has 10-plus sack potential as a rookie."
