On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of chof360 leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.
Jackson LaCombe, ANA at BUF (32% rostered)
LaCombe has come out firing following the 4 Nations break with three helpers in two games. He led all Ducks defensemen in ice time in consecutive nights over the weekend, averaging over 25 minutes per game. The Ducks grind out games so their offensive ceiling is capped, but LaCombe is emerging as their No. 1 defenseman and often used in scoring situations. The Sabres are allowing the fifth-most goals per game (3.38) and the 11th-most shots per game (29.1).
Tony DeAngelo, NYI vs. NYR (28% rostered)
The return of Ryan Pulock has not damped DeAngelo’s fantasy stock at all with DeAngelo maintaining his spot on PP1. It’s a spot he’s unlikely to lose the rest of the season – ie. lots of ROS value – because no other Isles defenseman can do what DeAngelo does except for the injured Noah Dobson. DeAngelo notched an assist against the Stars and faces his former team, which has struggled defensively all season.
Sean Durzi, UTA vs. CHI (27% rostered)
This is a really good matchup for Utah. Durzi didn’t miss a beat in his first game back from a significant injury, playing 21:37 in L.A. and scoring a point. He’ll be counted on in all situations and provides shots and blocks, with the potential for a little more scoring as their QB on PP2.
Matt Roy, WSH vs. CGY (10% rostered)
Roy’s always one of my favorite streaming targets because he’s steady and plays on a really good team. That usually means the floor is pretty high, even though the upside isn’t great because he’s not an offensive defenseman. That being said, Roy has three assists to go with his five blocks in his past two games.
Ivan Provorov, CBJ vs. DAL (10% rostered)
It’s a tough matchup and Provorov is tough to trust at times because there are stretches where he doesn’t offer much in fantasy. On the other hand, he’s bound to play a ton of minutes with Zach Werenski, who will be tasked with both shutting down the Stars offense and generating offense to outscore their problems. Provorov had scored three goals and four points in four games leading up to the 4 Nations – the hope is he finds his scoring touch again very soon.
Mason Lohrei, BOS vs. TOR (5% rostered)
This is a big rivalry game and the Bruins will need to score to counter the Leafs’ potentially lethal offense. Lohrei assisted on two goals Saturday against the Ducks and remains at the helm on PP1 while Charlie McAvoy is injured. It was a big game for Lohrei with four shots on goal, and they’ll need more of the same if they want to make a playoff push. Only Nikita Zadorov played more minutes than Lohrei in their last game.
