In another twist on the dramatic Xbox vs. PlayStation ActiBlizz (Yes, that’s definitely her official name now), the UK’s Capital Markets Authority revealed Sony’s response to the authority’s recent “Statement of Issues” in relation to the acquisition. Much of what’s implied in this statement has already been heard so far, aside from some exciting new Xbox Game Pass details.
With the PlayStation owner still defending its position on blocking the deal, Sony has dropped some new Xbox Game Pass numbers. Game Pass is far ahead of PlayStation Plus. Microsoft already has a huge lead in multi-game subscription services. Game Pass has 29 million Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate console subscribers, and is expected to grow exponentially in the future. This statement, if entirely accurate, means Xbox Game Pass has gained another four million subscribers in less than a year, which sounds pretty good to us!
Interestingly, Sony’s quote explicitly acknowledges that numbers for the new PS Plus Extra and Premium levels are “significantly” behind those for Xbox Game Pass, though the PlayStation owner does not disclose its subscriber numbers in this statement.Read:Ubisoft says $70 price tag will now be the norm for its ‘big AAA games’
