Alphonse Areola is interested in leaving West Ham on loan in the January transfer window to save his international career with France.
Ligue 1 team Lorient submitted a loan offer for the 29-year-old goalkeeper yesterday, according to a French journalist.

However, the Hammers reportedly have no interest in letting Areola leave the London Stadium in the January transfer window.
The 29-year-old was loaned to Paris Saint-Germain’s Hammers in the summer of 2021 and then made his move to the London Stadium permanent in 2022 for around £8 million (The Athletic).
Oddly enough, he had to make do with a backup role at the London Stadium, playing second fiddle to Lukasz Fabianski.
And as a result, it looks like Areola is keen to move away from the club on loan in the January transfer window…
Areola is open to leaving West Ham on loan
L’Equipe claims the 29-year-old is keen to move to Lorient on loan in January to increase his chances of returning to the French national team’s reckoning.
That’s fair enough, no way.

It’s really baffling why David Moyes doesn’t see Areola as his number one goalkeeper ahead of Fabianski.
It seems that the Scot will now have to play him regularly or risk losing him.
How did it come to this? Areola, who earns £120,000 a week (Spotrac), is an elite goalkeeper and should play for West Ham week in, week out in my opinion.
And allowing him to leave the London Stadium, even if on loan, will be a terrible move by Moyes.
