Porsche Boxster ‘travelling wrong way down M6’ when girl, 3, was killed in tragic crash

It is believed that the Porsche Boxster was going the wrong way down the M6 ​​when it was involved in a crash that killed a three-year-old girl.

Faye Dawson lost her life in the collision, near Leyland, at approximately 5.50pm on Saturday (19 November). A 79-year-old man who was driving the sports car also died.

The three-year-old was traveling in a Vauxhall Meriva on the southbound freeway between junctions 29 and 28. Two of the passengers, including her mother, remained in the hospital.

Lancashire Police have issued a new witness appeal following the tragic incident. Anyone with dash cam footage has been urged to come forward.

On Thursday, Faye’s grieving family honored a “loving and caring” little girl who was “loved by everyone who met her.” A devastating statement read: “Our beautiful Faye Grace, words will never express the heartache we are all going through since you were so tragically taken from us. We cannot see a future without you, it has left a huge hole in our lives.

Investigating officers suspect that the Porsche Boxster was traveling in the wrong direction on the road when the collision occurred, having entered the interstate at Junction 28 via the south slipway.

Sergeant Craig Booth, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This collision has left both families grieving in a way most of us will never understand.

“On behalf of Lancashire Police and the investigation team, I would like them to know our thoughts are with all of them, as they are supported by specially trained officers as a result of this shocking incident.

“I also feel like I need to mention all the emergency services who attended who are also trying to deal with what happened.”

If anyone who witnessed the collision has not yet come forward, the police have asked them to do so. Also, if any drivers have camera footage from the highway around the time of the collision, the officers implore them to get in touch.
