BRITS ONLY KNOW HOW TO UNLOCK A SUPERMARKET CART WITHOUT A £1 COIN.
A bewildered shopper took to TikTok to share her shock at the ingenious hack when you got mowed down without the right change.
Tasha’s mum-of-three has revealed how two 20p coins stacked together and placed into a £1 slot will also open a cart.
The two 20p coins together are about as thick as a £1 coin, fooling the cart lock.
But not everyone in TikTok is convinced.
One commenter said: “I tried this today at Aldi. It didn’t work – I had to get me a cart while she died of embarrassment.”
Several other Aldi customers have also said that the trick doesn’t work on series wagons.
One said: “I did it at an Aldi and got stuck. A group of people surrounded the cart trying to get it out – they probably thought I didn’t have brain cells.”
People also wondered if a person who did not have a coin on hand would get 20 coins.
But TikTok user Claire Marie Rodgers said, “I used this on Morrisons. It worked as a cure!”
Others on the social media platform offered their alternative hacks.
Someone said, “Use a key or a paperclip. Tesco blue tokens work too.”
People also recommended hair clips, beef corkscrews, and euro coins.
But the best part is to make sure you have a coin before you go to the shops.
You must always return your trolley to a designated area after paying on time.
