Mother’s tearful plea to 13-year-old son missing with schoolfriend

A mother has pleaded with her 13-year-old son and his school friend to come home after he went missing from his home in Merthyr Vale. Nixon Powell and his friend Nathan Winkler have not been seen since Thursday afternoon.

Nixon’s distraught mother, Sherri, thinks he took the burgundy tent out of the house after going to school.

The friends got off the train at Merthyr Vale train station and went to Cherie’s nearby house around 4pm, but have not been seen since.

The pair were caught on the ring doorbell camera at around 3.24pm wearing their school uniforms. In addition to the tent, the family believes Nixon also took a pink and blue backpack.

“I’m so worried,” says an emotional Sherry, who is desperate for news. “They’re so young and they’ve been out all night. I just want Nixon to come home with me.”

“The response we got from the local communities was amazing. Complete strangers were offering their help, and there are teams looking for boys all over the area. I was so touched that so many people wanted to help.”
