Mike Pence is asked to testify against Trump in new Capitol riot inquiry | World

Former Vice President Mike Pence has been asked by the US Department of Justice to testify in its investigation into Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election as the couple pursues rival bids for the White House in 2024.

Pence is reportedly considering the application from the Department of Justice (DoJ) as he considers challenging Trump for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024. Trump confirmed last week that he would run for the White House.

The former vice president has refused to testify before the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the US Capitol last year, declaring it too partisan. Last week he insisted, “Congress has no right to my testimony.”
