Martin Lewis warns Tesco shoppers as Clubcard vouchers set to expire in days

Money guru Martin Lewis has warned that £13m worth of Tesco Clubcard vouchers will expire in just days.

Speaking on his ITV live programme, the finance specialist explained how any vouchers issued in November 2020 will expire at the end of this month on 30 November. Clubcard vouchers are issued quarterly, in February, May, August and November, and then are usually valid for two years.

Shoppers need at least 150 points to get a Clubcard voucher, which is worth £1.50 to spend at Tesco, The Mirror reports. Martin urged customers to act soon and said, “Check if you have [vouchers to use] at Tesco.com/Clubcard or via the app.

You can check if you have forgotten your Clubcard points by logging into the Tesco Clubcard website with your account details. Customers can triple their points if they redeem them with over 100 ‘rewards partners’ which include Thorpe Park, Pizza Express and RAC.

They can also use their vouchers to lower the cost of the Christmas shop, fuel or through Tesco Mobile. However, Martin explained that there is a trick to extending your coupons, if you’re not quite ready to spend them yet.

Martin said: ‘Get a £10 voucher online and buy a 50p restaurant voucher on the reward page – which is £1.50 because it triples it. Now £9.50, change, will be reissued in vouchers, which are vouchers New so that it has a life of two years.

Clubcard members should receive their next set of Clubcard vouchers this month – they will be valid for two years. You get points every time you spend money in Tesco shops or online on the Tesco website and for every £1 you spend you will get 1 point added to your Clubcard balance.

If you use a Tesco fuel pump, every £2 you spend is worth 1 point. Tesco shoppers can also collect points through Tesco Bank and Tesco Mobile. Customers can check their Clubcard voucher balance and expiration dates through the Tesco website or app.

Once you’re logged in, click on “My Clubcard” then “Vouchers” and you’ll see a table listing the receipts you still have to spend.
