“It boggles my mind,” Chris admitted when asked about Matt’s popularity on ITV’s Today show Lorraine.

But Matt has now also jumped rugby star Mike Tindall and comedian Sean Walsh and is the third favorite to win the 2022 series, at odds of 7/1.

Elsewhere, Jill Scott continues her lead at 2/5 to be crowned Queen of the Jungle, while Shaun is the 1/4 favorite who will be sent for the coronation tonight.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “In another bizarre twist in the betting, Matt Hancock has now jumped Mike Tindall and now finds himself with one foot in the final three.”

Speculation swirled among I’m A Celebrity’s ardent fanbase about the reasons for Matt staying so long in the competition.

Many expected him to get out early due to his divisive reputation.

The latest theory doing the rounds is that the real reason people voted for him was to end the Awakened Brigade who hates that he’s still out there.

One fan wrote: “#ImACeleb please keep voting for Matt cause he’s driving insane, only Elon Musk taking over Twitter driving them off the bat. The title holder can’t figure out how Matt survives elite bullies.”

“I do not watch #ImACeleb And I don’t like Matt Hancock, but one of the funniest things you read reports about is # He woke up The media and Twitter are outraged that Hancock is still in the woods while 5 others have been voted down by the Great British public before him,” another tweeted.

Another echoed: “It’s hardly entertaining, boring as hell and a bit creepy. This is an entertainment show, not a political show. Apparently some people are voting for it because they think it’s going to piss people off or they’re just evil #ImACeleb”
