How to lose visceral fat: Doctor shares three diet tips to ‘prime’ your metabolism

Your body converts food and drink into energy all day, every day. Your body can also convert stored fat into energy. These processes are known as your metabolism. But metabolism is not the same for everyone. In fact, what you eat can have a huge impact on how “high” your metabolism is. A doctor shared three diet tips on how to “tune” your metabolism to help you burn more fat throughout the day.

Doctor Tax Bhatia suggests on her blog that how high your metabolism is is due to “three” main factors, two of which can be altered depending on the foods you eat.

One of these factors is whether or not the energy you take in from food is used to break down other foods, or is burned directly. She explains that this is called the “thermic effect” of food.

The other two factors include your basal metabolic rate and the amount of physical activity you do. Your basal metabolic rate is the amount of energy you naturally break down without doing anything.

Dr. Bhatia explains that certain foods can affect your basal metabolic rate as well as affect how other foods are used in the body (thermic effect).

She adds that these special foods can help you “burn more calories at rest and help with weight loss.”

So, what foods do you recommend to improve your metabolism to burn more fat?

Dr. Bhatia actually recommends adding three different complementary nutrients to your morning beverage, whether it’s coffee or tea. She says, “If you add the right ingredients, you can stimulate digestion, provide energy to your cells, and support metabolism and healthy hormone levels.”

One nutrient she recommends supplementing with is collagen peptides.

Coconut Oil

Her final tip was to add coconut oil to your coffee or tea.

Coconut oil is another food item that contains small chemicals associated with fat burning.

In particular, it contains a lot of medium-chain fatty acids, which studies have shown to boost your metabolism.

However, there may be health risks associated with using too much coconut oil. Oil contains about a third more saturated fat than butter, explains the British Heart Foundation.

The health authority says: “There has been speculation that some of the saturated fats in coconut oil may be better for us than other saturated fats, but so far there is not enough good research to give us a definitive answer.

“For now, if you like the taste of coconut oil, then, as with butter, it’s okay to use it every now and then. However, it’s best to limit yourself to small amounts and use unsaturated oils as a daily option instead.” .

Furthermore, there is some evidence that drinking a lot of coffee may not be good for some people’s metabolism in the long term.

Coffee raises the levels of a stress hormone called cortisol in your body, although this effect may vary from person to person. In the short term, higher cortisol has been shown to help increase fat metabolism.

However, some studies indicate that excessive intake of cortisol as a result of excessive consumption of coffee may cause an increase in belly fat and weight gain.
