Graham Potter can claim first Chelsea trophy as Premier League clash in Abu Dhabi is confirmed

Chelsea announced that they will face Premier League rivals Aston Villa in Abu Dhabi next month in a CBF match Unity Challenge Cup.

A temporary Blues squad – which will not include those players representing their countries at the World Cup – will hold a warm-weather training camp in the United Arab Emirates in order to keep fit before Chelsea’s Premier League campaign resumes on December 27.

A friendly was always expected during Chelsea’s spell in Abu Dhabi and the Blues confirmed they will face familiar rivals at Villa on Sunday, December 11, at the Al Nahyan Stadium. Kickoff will be at 6.10pm local time, which is 2.10pm UK time.

Speaking earlier this month about Chelsea’s plans during the World Cup break, boss Graham Potter said: “We’ll have a break and then regroup, a little bit of training, go to a warm camp. There will be [potentially] A few matches to prepare for the reboot.

The match will be Chelsea’s chance to claim a piece of silverware under Potter and the Blues have already beaten Aston Villa under the Englishman since he replaced Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge in September.

In October, Chelsea went to Villa Park and recorded a 2-0 victory thanks to two goals from Mason Mount.
