GOOD Morning British presenter Kate Garraway has given viewers an important update on the health of her ailing husband Derek Draper.
The former lobbyist, 55, was rushed to the ER in July with sepsis after a series of serious health problems since contracting Covid in 2020.
Kate, also 55, was made aware of his recent change in condition during a live phone call backstage on the Good Morning Britain set.
On today’s show – where she was joined by a new host – Kate gave an update on Derek’s struggles.
It came during a conversation with railway union boss Mick Lynch amid the railway strikes that enveloped Britain’s train network.
She told him about her experience with rail workers and staff shortages, despite praising their high level of service.
Kate then told him, “I spend pretty much all my time on trains or in the hospital with Derek.”Read:EXC: Danniella Westbrook’s daughter Jodie, 21, would ‘love’ to compete in Big Brother revival
It appeared that her husband is still in the hospital, but had left the intensive care unit.
Earlier this month, the host revealed: “The sepsis is under control. One kidney looks really good, you just have to look at the other.
“We’re back on the right side now.”
At the time, Kate thanked the public for their messages of support and praised the doctors for keeping him alive.
She said: “It’s lovely to be back and thank you for all your good wishes as always, it means everything.”
Kate has combined caring for Derek with working and caring for their two children, Darcey (16) and Billy (12).
In an earlier conversation with The Sun, Kate said she tried to keep a smile on her face despite the hardships they faced.
Kate said, “I’m very tired, but I’m taking it day by day to even out the ups and downs.”
She also said at an awards ceremony in London: “I try to embrace life, especially the children, as we’ve had two and a half years of it.Read:Netflix reveals a trailer for Queen Charlotte in the much-anticipated Bridgerton Prequel
