Facebook Marketplace: Police hunt man who ‘stole phone’

Selling things online can be risky – as a victim from the Swindon area just found out.

A post on Facebook Marketplace offered a mobile phone for sale at £120.

An interested potential buyer agreed to pay for the phone and told the seller at Royal Wootton Bassett that he had paid the required amount of money through a bank app.

He took the phone but no payment arrived in the seller’s bank account.

Police are now appealing to the public for information that could help identify a suspect in this robbery.

Images that appear to have been captured by CCTV or a doorbell camera have been shared on the Wiltshire Force’s Facebook page.

A spokesperson said: “If you are able to identify this person, or if this is you, please call us on 101 quoting reference 54220061075.”
