Driver dies after medical episode on Ravenfield Drive in Widnes

A man has died after being involved in a suspected medical accident behind the wheel.

An air ambulance was dispatched to Ravenfield Drive in Widnes at around 3.45pm on Thursday afternoon.

This came after the emergency services received reports of a traffic accident.

The scene was attended by police, paramedics and two firefighters from Widnes and Benkith fire stations, where a car was seen leaving the road.

The victim, a man in his fifties, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital, but unfortunately was pronounced dead.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 3.43pm on Thursday 24th November, police were called to a man collapsed in a car on Ravenfield Drive, Widnes.

The slow-moving car had left the road and stopped in front of the fence.

“The driver, a man in his fifties, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital, but unfortunately he passed away.”
