Cristiano Ronaldo has decided next move after Man Utd exit amid Chelsea and Newcastle transfer

Former Chelsea player Joe Cole claims Cristiano Ronaldo may have already decided on his next team after his contract was mutually terminated with Manchester United. The 37-year-old missed out on a move to the Blues in the summer following interest from new co-owner and interim sporting director Todd Boyle.

However, now that Ronaldo is a free agent, the links are starting to spread again, with Chelsea managing to defeat the Portuguese without the hassle of signing up for another team. Meanwhile, the veteran striker is playing for his country in the World Cup.

He and Portugal are looking to repeat their feats of triumph at the European Championships again in 2016, hoping that they can push forward on the bigger stage. Discussing the decision, former national team teammate Bruno Fernandes told reporters: “The dream of playing with Cristiano has come true. [at Manchester United ] But nothing lasts forever.”

While the new transfer policy under Boehly-Clearlake at Chelsea revolves around young talent, the transfer business has so far shown they are not afraid to rely on the experienced. The likes of Kalidou Koulibaly and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined in the summer, and amid goal-scoring woes, a Ronaldo move has yet to be ruled out.

Former Blues star Cole believes the striker has already decided on his next club, but added he would not take him on at Stamford Bridge. Speaking on ITV ahead of Portugal’s clash with Ghana, he said: “I think he’ll be released, he’s got a line under him, no doubt he and his agent will have something up their sleeves. His next team will probably be sorted out already, but he’s on top – I think he’s There is only Messi who stands above him as the greatest of all time. He has only had this World Cup on his mind for three to four weeks.”

Then he added, “No [he wouldn’t take him at Chelsea]But listen, he’s going to score goals, he’s going to have an impact on the World Cup no doubt, but [to answer your question] number.”

It remains to be seen where Ronaldo’s future lies after the tournament, but full focus is likely to be on getting Portugal as far as possible.
