Chelsea transfer could prompt Leicester City exit amid £33m claims

Leicester City full-back Timothy Castagne is reportedly on a four-man list of transfer targets to replace Denzel Dumfries must be sold to the Dutch international this summer.

Chelsea, as City now know all too well, are keen on defensive reinforcements before the end of this month, and that interest extends beyond central defenders to ample options. After already signing Marc Cucurella on the left, an additional option on the right is apparently also being pursued, namely Dumfries.

If a transfer to take the 26-year-old from Milan to West London is finalized in the coming months, it could have implications for Leicester. Inter are already said to have their list of replacements ready for the player, who could leave for £3million, according to the Express report.

Castagne is on the shortlist among three others according to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport (via SempreInter). Domestic options Turin’s Wilfried Singo and Lazio’s Manuel Lazzari are joined by Alvaro Odriozola, who is out of favor with Real Madrid.

Castagne started the season well with goals against Brentford on the opening weekend of the Premier League season at King Power Stadium, sending home a corner kick from James Maddison, who has also been linked with a transfer.

Castagne has previous Serie A experience, playing nearly 100 games for Atalanta over three years at Bergamo, which may be part of the attraction for Inter. The defender has entered his third season in the East Midlands and the club is unlikely to lose such a versatile player who previously played as a centre-back and left, as well as his natural role on the right.
