In case you missed it, CD Projekt Red’s award-winning video game The Witcher 3 will receive its “Next Gen” update on December 14th.
As part of this, there will also be some Witcher Netflix DLC added to the game – even on Nintendo Switch. In a new livestream, CDPR has now briefly outlined what players can expect. Instead of simply handing out new themed equipment and items to players, there will actually be a mission “DLC” for all of this.
“We just thought if we’re introducing all those new armors and swords and items we just want to make it feel like it’s a little bit more part of the game, and of course if it’s a cool armor, like with the other armors in the game there has to be some quest or content associated with it.” So we tried to make a mission that makes it part of the game.”
The team even brought back Geralt’s voice actors (including Doug Cockle) to voice and record some lines for the new DLC update.
So, what can you expect from this DLC? It looks like there will be Geralt shields and swords for season one and two of the Netflix show, an alternate skin for Dandelion, and Nilfgaardian armor based on the show’s outfit.
“We have a very special treat for all fans of the Netflix show! Enjoy alternate looks for Dandelion and Nilfgaardian soldiers, plus a new mission, inspired by the show, where you’ll be able to get blueprints for new equipment for Geralt. What’s the mission? Shhh! No spoilers!”
There will also be new cross progression options added to allow players to save and play between multiple platforms. Keep in mind that an update in 2020 gave players the ability to save across PC and switch.
A feature you know from Cyberpunk 2077 – play the game the way you want, wherever you want and transfer the latest save between platforms.
