Kieran Tierney also struggled with his condition as he recovers from a serious knee injury, but he came off the bench in last week’s win over Crystal Palace and remains a substitute today.

“He played 20 minutes last weekend and he did very well,” said Arteta. “He has been out for a long time after a knee injury.

“But he now looks in perfect condition and is ready to go.”

Reiss Nelson is out of Arsenal’s squad against Leicester due to a thigh problem.
