‘Are you watching?’ – Manchester United fans send Facundo Pellistri message to Erik ten Hag

Manchester United fans were impressed by Facundo Pellestri after his performance for Uruguay in the opening match of the World Cup against South Korea.

Pellestri arrived at Old Trafford in 2020 after being bought from Penarol. After arriving in October, the then teenage winger joined Alavés in January to gain first team experience.

United again chose to loan Pellestri to Alaves in the summer of 2021 where, despite making 23 appearances for the La Liga side, he failed to score a goal or register an assist. Since the arrival of Erik ten Hag, Pellestri has been in and around the first team.

Since then, the winger has spoken of his desire for more opportunities with United under Ten Hag. While he has so far failed to get chances at United, he has been backed internationally.

Uruguay coach Diego Alonso picked him up in his squad for the World Cup in Qatar and he played 88 minutes as the South American giants drew 0-0 with their Asian opponents. Pellestri was on the verge of an assist in the first half but the chance he created was missed by Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez.
