Alfred Molina ‘Got Into Trouble’ Over Spider-Man: No Way Home Leak

Before that Spider-Man: No way home After its release, star Alfred Molina let loose with notoriety that he would return to the Spider-Man universe as Doc Ock. According to Molina, this move got him into a lot of trouble behind the scenes.

In a recent interview with Radio Times, Molina was asked again if he would return for a future Spider-Man movie. This time, though, Molina joked that his new answer is simply to neither confirm nor deny anything.

“I can neither confirm nor deny,” said Molina. “Here’s the official line. I got into a little bit of trouble during the last iteration because I let the cat out of the bag quite innocently.”

Molina went on to discuss the moment in April 2021, where she saw Molina reveal he was filming No going home as his popular character, Doc Ock. This was news to everyone and led to fans celebrating his return, while those at Marvel Studios weren’t happy to see the news leak.

“Just by chance, I was talking to a journalist who said, ‘You know, how’s it going Spider Man movie going? And I went, “Oh, great. Thanks.” Then literally the next day, Variety was like, “Alfred Molina reveals Doc Ock is back.” “I got into such trouble,” Molina said. “I was getting phone calls from Amy Pascal, Kevin Feige was on the red carpet somewhere and somebody asked him. about a Marvel movie and he seemed to get really worried and turned around and said, “Ask Alfred Molina.” So I got into a little hot water. So this is the official line – I can neither confirm nor deny.”

While Molina’s answer is unlikely to make fans want him back any less, the actor seems to have learned from his past missteps, and won’t be commenting on any future MCU projects anytime soon.
