Two games since the last column. The first in which we were under the cosh for the majority, the second the other way round. The results, however, as they have been far too often over the last 18 months, were the same.
We can no longer wait for these players to gel, to start taking chances, to stop conceding soft goals. Four managerial teams have led 49 players with little to no improvement in results. At some point you have to accept you aren’t being unlucky.
I am writing this column on Tuesday night after a demoralising defeat at Newport, a game that was there for the taking yet this squad, assembled at great expense, with high wages and big reputations failed to take it. Time is running out to preserve our Football League status and now is the time for these players to step up.
If they do not we face a humiliating relegation.
The almost 300 travelling Blues and the thousands watching and listening elsewhere deserve more.
In Trust news the engagement plan continued with our first X (Twitter) Space. Despite some technical issues this event had more than 1,600 listens either live or of the recording. This shows the reach of these events.
A range of topics were discussed including recruitment, the Trust’s role and what both members and non-members would like to see going forward.

This followed a members meeting last Wednesday following the dismissal of Mike Williamson. I feel both of these meetings were positive and allowed fans to put their opinions forward and also maybe gain a further understanding of the workings of both the Trust and the club.
We plan to do more of these in future so keep an eye on our socials. If you have any other platforms you think would be useful please let us know.
We will also be operating a presence in the fan zone again this Saturday. We invite members and non-members to come along and discuss all things Carlisle United.
Until then all we can do is hope. Up the Blues
