Harvey Elliott insisted he was unimpressed with the atmosphere during the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

It was a fittingly dramatic clash on Wednesday night, as James Tarkowski volleyed in a stunning 98th-minute equaliser to spark wild scenes of celebration.

Chaotic scenes followed after the match, with Abdoulaye Doucoure and Curtis Jones shown red cards following a brawl and Liverpool boss Arne Slot and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff both also dismissed.

Everton took the lead through Beto in what appeared to be a thunderous atmosphere, but Elliott, who was an unused substitute, was unsurprisingly in no mood to talk up the home fans.

Asked if he felt the crowd during match, Elliott told TNT Sports: “Not really.”

Pressed on the “roar” heard around Goodison Park, the 21-year-old added: “Yeah, the Liverpool fans.”

Liverpool responded to Beto’s opening goal within five minutes, as Alexis Mac Allister headed past Jordan Pickford, before Mohamed Salah then struck in the 73rd minute for what appeared to be a derby winner.

Slot’s side were seconds away from going nine points clear at the top of the Premier League, but that advantage is instead seven points after Tarkowski struck in the final seconds, with that goal standing after a lengthy VAR review.

“This game feels like a loss, because of everything that happened,” Elliott said.

“I feel like we need to look at the bigger picture. It’s a point on the board at a tough ground, circumstances as well with it being the last Merseyside derby here.”
